Meet Huggy Bear, one of our more special FOCAS felines! At only a few weeks of age his foster mom noticed Huggy Bear wasn’t growing as much as his siblings and was regurgitating his food. A visit to the veterinarian confirmed Huggy Bear has megasophagous, an enlarged esophagus which prevents canines and on the rare occasion, felines from being able to keep food in their stomach.
Huggy Bear’s foster mom describes him as the "sweetest thing in the world; a lap kitty that loves people and gives the best kitty hugs ever." In short, Huggy Bear is a sweet little love bug that really wants a forever family to love. Won't you consider giving this boy the loving home he so deserves?
With dietary management, Huggy Bear can live a long and happy life! Felines with megasophagous do best being fed smaller, more frequent meals of a high-energy food at an elevated height, water should also be offered at an elevated height. If you would like to meet Huggy Bear or have questions about megasophagous please call Tonya, our FOCAS Medical Director at 858.405.5018.
