6. What does FOCAS stand for?
Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has been at the forefront of finding a way to exit cats and dogs out of the three San Diego Department of Animal Services shelters and into safe, loving homes for the past 20 years. More than 5,000 San Diegans have adopted one or more FOCAS pets since 1999.  FOCAS does not operate a shelter of its own but instead, relies on a network of foster parents and catteries to prepare cats and dogs for adoption into their forever home. The organization does not exit pets that will otherwise find a home quickly through the Department of Animal Services adoption program, but instead focus on helping animals with friendly dispositions and treatable or manageable medical or other issues.

7. How can I donate?

Follow this link to donate online!

8. Where is my donation going?
Hidden Treasures is raising money for FOCAS’s Medical Fund.  FOCAS is dedicated to giving second chances to animals that otherwise may have no hope at all.  Whether it is an illness that needs medication or a broken leg that needs time to heal, FOCAS uses its energy and resources to help the "hidden treasures" that need a little extra TLC before they can find their forever home.  More information on FOCAS’s Medical Fund can be found here.
